Senior DNS Administrator
Elluminates Software is looking to fill a full time Senior Domain Name System (DNS) Administrator position to support our U.S. Government Department of State customer. It is required to have an active Secret and be able attain to Top Secret clearance (or already possess a Top Secret clearance). We are seeking someone who can work in a team that handles both engineering and operational activities, manage multiple priorities, and be self-starter.
As part of an integrated program team, Elluminates Software is responsible for maintaining the availability, security, performance, and health of the State Department’s world-wide public and private DNS infrastructure, name resolution, DNS delegations, DNSSEC and leads the associated DNS infrastructure support staff. The small and tight-knit DNS team is located in Springfield, Virginia and works closely with the Enterprise Network Management engineering and operations team, which currently is near 40 people. Additional teams are also onsite at this location.
The team is moving from a Linux BIND and Windows DNS environment to an Infoblox environment. This position will support this transition that is currently in the deployment phase and then manage the Infoblox and Windows DNS environment going forward, while ensuring no negative State Department impact to operations.

Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior DNS Administrator will:
  • Have expertise in the following key areas:
    • DNS and IPAM Infoblox device configuration, management and operations in an enterprise environment
    • Linux and BIND configuration, zone transfer, data import/export and/or understanding for transition to Infoblox environment
    • Windows DNS and Active Directory (conditional forwarding, etc) knowledge/administration to support Windows team for DNS
    • SSH and Windows Remote Desktop Connection usage (with Smart Card access experience as a admin user being a plus)
  • Provide Remedy ticket support, and phone support to State Department users in the following areas
    • DNS name resolution Moves, Adds, Changes and Deletions (MACD)
    • DNSSEC support for Moves, Adds, Changes and Deletions (MACD)
    • Updating of DNS ISP infrastructure through zone transfers
  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other DNS team documentation
  • Provide DNS engineering support to DNS Architect and DNS team
  • Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting hardware and software for DNS problems
  • Update and/or monitor Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) as applicable and other equipment proactively
  • Requires the ability to work up to an in-depth understanding of the overall network infrastructure and the ability to provide remote troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Have knowledge of networking (e.g., OSPF, IP, etc) is a plus
Work Experience:
  • Experience with running DNS for complex enterprise environments
  • Experience with DNS for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
  • Experience with both SBU and classified network environments
  • Experience with dotgov a plus for DNS and DNSSEC changes
  • Experience with DNS Simple Failover a plus
  • Have experience working within a Systems Engineering oriented environment that can effect tens of thousands of users is a plus
  • Planning, recommending, and performing changes
  • Experience showing you are a methodological problem solver
  • Assist team in planning/developing objectives and goals
  • Support team objectives and conforming to the client’s operating practices
Years of Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Minimum 5-10+ years experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced degree is preferred

Clearance: DoD Secret; must be able to obtain TS, **Active clearance is required**
Location: Springfield, VA.
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8 hours between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, may be on-call during engineering changes
